Utes host Cal in Pac-12 basketball

The University of Utah men's basketball team will host California Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center in a meeting of one of the Pac-12's best and worst teams.

The Bears bring in a 12-3 league record and a 22-6 overall mark and are tied with Washington for first place. Utah continues to struggle with a 2-12 Pac-12 record and a 5-21 overall mark. The Utes are in the midst of a seven-game losing streak.

Thursday's meeting marks the 19th time Cal and Utah have played, with the Bears leading the all-time series 10-8, including an 81-45 victory in a game played earlier this year in Berkeley.

Junior center Jason Washburn leads Utah in scoring and rebounding on the season, averaging 10.6 points and 6.3 boards agin. Junior guard Chris Hines is average 10.9 points in conference play, while freshman guard Kareem Storey tops the team in assists with 3.2 a contest.

Allen Crabbe leads Cal with a 15.6 scoring average and also hauls down 5.9 rebounds and dishes out five assists a game.

This is the second to the last home game of the year for Utah, which hosts Stanford Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Utah will finish with its first losing record at home since the 1972-73 season.
