Salt Lake International Airport travelers began using Automated Target Recognition scanning devices. Plain-clothed TSA employees at Terminal One, demonstrated the body scan technology, or Automated Target Recognition, that takes about seven seconds and only reveals a computer generated body shape Wednesday, August 17 2011 in Salt Lake City. . The scan image is generic, not specific to male or female anatomy. The outline of the figure is gray and only pops up if the machine detects a metal or plastic item on a person as he or she goes through the scanner. New imaging systems designed to provide "enhanced privacy" for passengers by using generic body types were unveiled by Transportation Safety Administration officials Wednesday at Salt Lake City International Airport.
