Would-be robber runs with scissors, escapes injury but not jail
Scissors just wouldn't do it for a would-be armed robber at a west Salt Lake City grocery store.
Police say the male suspect entered the Jade Market at 353 W. 200 South about 9 a.m. Wednesday, brandished the scissors and demanded $200 cash from the clerk.
"Get the out of here," the clerk, unimpressed, replied. The man, despite the caution of mothers from time immemorial, ran away with the scissors and out the door.
Police, answering the 911 call from the store, located the 23-year-old suspect just minutes later and arrested him without further incident.
He was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of first-degree felony aggravated robbery and class C misdemeanor providing false information to a police officer.
