Some of the national pre-season high school football rankings are starting to be released and defending Utah Class 5A champion Bingham is found on at least one.

The USA Today Super 25, compiled by former Tribune sports editor Jim Halley, ranks the Miners as the 23rd best team in America going into the season. Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas earned the top honors in this poll.

According to the USA poll, Bingham returns "an abundance of talent." It praises returning senior quarterback Kyle Gearig, who finished last year with 1,876 passing yards and 28 touchdown passes and said Bingham returns six defensive starters.

No Utah team was listed in the preseason Maxpreps.com Top 25.

Not surprisingly, Bingham and 4A champion Timpview finished one-two a year ago in Maxpreps.com's Utah rankings.
