Brighton linebacker Osa Masina has announced his top five schools and the Utes didn’t make the cut.

Masina, ranked as a 2015 four-star recruit and the No. 1 overall recruit in the state by several recruiting services, tweeted Thursday that he’d narrowed his choices down to UCLA, Michigan, Wisconsin, USC and Arizona State, in no particular order.

Blessed for the opportunity.</p>— OSA (@OS_tertag) <a href=”https://twitter.com/OS_tertag/statuses/487332579876429824”>July 10, 2014</a></blockquote>

The announcement is a blow for Utah, a program that appeared in the mix with his brother Uaea Masina already playing at Utah. Masina’s choices before today included the above five schools, as well as Notre Dame, Stanford and Utah.

The 6-foot-3, 230 pound Brighton prospect is being recruited as an outside linebacker, defensive end and tight end. He played both on offense and defense last season, racking up 1,643 yards and 25 touchdowns as a running back and 87 tackles as a linebacker.
