Brigham City • Authorities say a 17-year-old boy who was visiting from California has confessed to accidentally starting a five-alarm fire that burned a historic, abandoned mill in Brigham City.

Brigham Police Chief Paul Tittensor says the boy was bored and started playing with matches when the fire got away from him on June 29.

Five fire departments responded to the blaze at the Baron Woolen Mills buildings, which date back to 1869. No injuries were reported.

Authorities say the boy confessed to his parents. He's likely to face a misdemeanor .
