Lehi police are awaiting results of a veterinarian's necropsy of one dead dog and blood tests on another sickened canine to determine if a pet poisoner is on the loose in their Utah County town.

Police Sgt. Jeff Swenson said Wednesday that it would take "a week or two" before results are available.

"We're looking at the possibility, but right now we have two isolated incidents and we are not sure if it's poisoning or something else," he added.

Both dogs, Labrador retriever mixes, were in fenced yards at residences within the same block of a northwest Lehi neighborhood. One dog suffered a series of ultimately fatal seizures beginning about 6 a.m. Tuesday; the second dog suffered a seizure four hours later, but survived.
