Police in Salt Lake City were seeking a man who reportedly tried to abduct a woman while she was walking home Monday evening.

The woman, 20, was walking near 1300 South and Navajo Street (1355 West), when a bright blue passenger car pulled up from behind her, said Lt. Gary Trost. A man jumped out of the car and ordered her to get inside, Trost said. He brandished a handgun, grabbed the woman and forced her into the passenger seat, Trost said.

While the man was walking back to the driver’s seat, the woman got out of the car and ran to her home, one or two blocks away, Trost said.

It was unclear whether the man followed her.

The woman described the man as in his mid-30s, Latino, over average height and heavy build, with a shaved head and clean-shaven face. He was wearing a green polo shirt, Trost said.
