The Los Angeles Dodgers released Albuquerque catcher Miguel Olivo on Thursday.

Olivo, 35, was involved in a fight with teammate Alex Guererro during Tuesday’s 7-4 loss to the Salt Lake Bees at Smith’s Ballpark.

During the eighth-inning altercation, which occurred in the Isotopes’ dugout, Olivo bit Guerrero on the ear. The infielder from Cuba, who signed a $28 million contract with the Dodgers last winter, will be sidelined indefinitely after undergoing surgery on his ear.
