Houston • Giles Barnes pounced on a Jaime Penedo miscue for a 61st-minute goal to give the Houston Dynamo a 1-0 win over the L.A. Galaxy on Saturday.

On the game-winning play, Penedo failed to control a Dan Gargan throw-in inside the 6-yard box. Rookie forward Mark Sherrod stole the ball and found Barnes, who finished with the inside of his right foot to the far post to give Houston the score.

The game may have World Cup implications for the Honduran national team as Boniek Garcia left the game with what the club said is a right leg injury in the 18th minute.

Garcia is scheduled to join the Honduras team Sunday for World Cup preparations.

With the World Cup looming, three U.S. hopefuls — Houston’s Brad Davis and L.A.’s Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez — missed the game as all three are in the national team camp in Palo Alto, California.

Toronto FC 2, Red Bulls 0 • In Toronto, Jermain Defoe and Luke Moore scored and Toronto snapped its three-game losing streak with a win over New York.

Revolution 5, Union 3 • In Chester, Pa., A.J. Soares, Diego Fagundez, Lee Nguyen, Chris Tierney and Patrick Mullins scored, and New England topped Philadelphia for its fourth straight win. The Revolution (6-3-2) are 5-0-1 in their last six.

United 1, Impact 1 • In Washington, Eddie Johnson scored in the 84th minute to lift D.C. to a draw with Montreal. Johnson, recently left off the United States 30-man preliminary World Cup roster, scored his first of the season when he heading home a cross from Fabian Espindola. It was Johnson’s first goal since moving over from Seattle in the offseason.

FC Dallas 1, Chivas USA 1 • In Frisco, Texas, Fabian Castillo scored in te 83rd minute and FC Dallas tied Chivas USA night to end a four-game losing streak.

Marco Delgado scored his first career goal — a day after his 19th birthday — in the 60th minute for Chivas (2-5-4).

Sounders 1, Earthquakes 0 • In Seattle, Obafemi Martins scored in the eighth minute to give Seattle a victory over San Jose.

Timbers 3, Crew 3 • In Portland, Ore., Gaston Fernandez scored on a header in the 85th minute to pull Portland into a draw with Columbus. There was a flurry of goals in the final 10 minutes. Portland’s Will Johnson tied the match at 2 in the 80th minute. Ethan Finlay’s shot deflected off a Portland player for an own goal for Columbus a minute later.
