DVD • Fans of the “Veronica Mars” TV series (2004-07) were delighted by the movie version, but now’s the chance for everyone else to see what they missed.

The story starts with Veronica (Kristen Bell) trying to put her detective days behind her, but a murder back home in Neptune, Calif., draws her back in — because the prime suspect is her ex, the brooding Logan (Jason Dohring). Veronica returns to Neptune just in time for her high-school reunion, allowing her to catch up with old friends and former rivals.

Director Rob Thomas gets the most out of his celebrated $6 million budget (all collected from fans via Kickstarter), and writes (with Diane Ruggiero) a tight script that gives Bell plenty of acid-tipped one-liners — and a chance to solve more cases if the audience demands it.
