It turns out the Fremont girls' basketball team's season didn't end earlier this month, when the Silver Wolves hoisted the trophy after winning the Class 5A state title.

The team has been invited to play in the Dick's Sporting Goods National High School Tournament, according to a news release.

Fremont is one of four girls' teams in the country — there also will be an eight-team boys' event — invited to play in the tournament, which has a single-elimination format. The Silver Wolves, the No. 3 seed in the girls' bracket, will face Miami (Fla.) Senior High School in a game televised by ESPNU on April 4 at 10:30 a.m.

Miami, which is led by post Beatrice Mompremier — one of the most highly touted girls' players in the country — is ranked No. 19 in the USA Today national poll.

If the Silver Wolves can knock off Miami, they'll play the championship game the following day, at Madison Square Garden.

Fremont is the first team from Utah ever invited to the event, which began in 2009, according to the tournament's website.

The Silver Wolves, led by Shelbee Molen, a BYU-bound junior guard, dominated in-state this season, finishing 24-2. They capped their season with a run through the state tournament to the Class 5A state title.
