Thanksgiving Point gardens • Thanksgiving Point’s 55 acres of gardens are opening for the season. Among its 15 theme gardens, the most popular include the Secret Garden, Italian Garden, Waterfall Amphitheatre, Fragrance Garden and Monet Pond. Information, www.thanksgivingpoint.org.

Living Books • Living Books are volunteers you “borrow” who share stories about their personal experiences in 15-minute conversations — refugees, authors, world travelers, a Chinese immigrant, a mountaineer, religious leaders, a war veteran, LGBTQ persons and others. This program, in which patrons check out humans, has grown into an international project to promote compassion, understanding and conversations between people of all kinds. Strings Attached Puppetry Festival • The Strings Attached Puppetry Festival features performances by the Cashore Marionettes and several local puppetry troupes and includes an exhibit of puppets plus a puppet playground where children can improvise their own puppet performances. Ted Ligety homecoming • U.S. Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety is coming home to Utah for two celebrations on Saturday. Park City Mountain Resort is hosting a welcome celebration Saturday morning. Olympic sponsor JCPenney is hosting a separate celebration 3 p.m. at Valley Fair Mall.
