Type • High-speed quad

Vertical rise • 1,760 feet

Number of runs • 12

Difficulty • Intermediate and advanced

Why try it • Some of Deer Valley’s steepest, fastest runs

The ride • After riding Carpenter Express or Silver Lake Express to mid-mountain, there are three ways to reach Sultan’s loading terminal. Taking Sterling Express is the easiest, but to get to Sultan’s slopes you have to circle Bald Mountain. You can take the gentle McHenry cat-track run to Wasatch Express lift, which also goes to the top of Sultan’s runs, or ski past Wasatch to the Sultan lift.

Runs to try

Stein’s Way • It has tougher-than-average stretches of intermediate slope, a steeper section that earns a black diamond and offers access to more expert runs off Mayflower lift.

Tycoon • Offers some of the same attributes as Stein’s, providing high-speed skiing possibilities when the slope steepens partway down.

Evergreen • Halfway down Tycoon, take this gap through the trees on the right side for a steep, narrow shot — especially if it’s a powder day.
