It took awhile, but the 2013-14 ski season reached epic status in late February and early March with some major snowfall totals.
And, just as ski season reached its peak conditions-wise, it is time to start talking about the end.
And what better way to end it than to ski across what snow becomes at the end of the season?
Canyons Resort is hosting its 7th annual Spring Grüv celebration featuring its ever-popular Pond Skimming contest Saturday.
Participants in the heavily adult-themed event dress in costumes and try to ski or snowboard across a 100-foot pond. Registration — due by noon Thursday — is $30 and includes a gondola ticket.
The skimming pond is the Red Pine Lodge at mid-mountain and spectators need a lift or gondola ticket to watch the event.
The pond and the excitement happen at mid-mountain just outside Red Pine Lodge. Must be 10 years of age or older to enter. Spectators will need a lift or gondola ticket to watch
Pond skimming is only one of the events Canyons is celebrating during its annual Spring Grüv festivities. Other activities include: Jibbin’ for Juniors, a free mini terrain park for “mini-shreds”; meet the avalanche dogs; free concerts and BBQs.
