Investigators want the public's help finding whoever poached two elk in Piute County.

On March 8, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources heard reports of the poaching in the Kingston Canyon Wildlife Management Area, which is about 2½ miles west of Otter Creek Reservoir.

Conservation officers traveled to the area and found two elk cows lying a few hundred yards from State Road 22, according to a DWR news release published Friday. Both elk had been shot and left to rot, the release adds.

The DWR encourages anyone with information about the poaching to call 1-800-662-3337. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

A reward for information is available, though the release does not specify a dollar amount.
