A man is accused of trying to murder a woman outside of a homeless shelter in Salt Lake City.

The victim was walking near the shelter Feb. 24 near 200 South and Rio Grande Street when the man grabbed her around the neck and, she said, "started to stab me every where he could," police wrote in charges filed Monday.

The man allegedly told the woman, "I [expletive] told you I would kill you."

The woman received emergency treatment for stab wounds to her chest, abdomen and the back of her neck.

An officer reported that he heard the man say, "I hope that [expletive] dies. She deserves to die."

The man was charged with first-degree felony attempted murder.
