Weekend Express: Climbings 372 steps, polar plunge and polar bears

Fight For Air Climb • Climb 200 feet — 372 steps — to the top of the Zions Bank tower in downtown Salt Lake City to raise funds for the American Lung Association to help people with lung diseases who struggle to breathe each day. More information, http://www.lungutah.org.

When: 8 a.m. Saturday

Where: Zions Bank, 1 S. Main St.

Registration: $35, but participants are also encouraged to raise a minimum of $100 in donations

Polar Plunge • Take a plunge into icy water in this fundraiser for Special Olympics Utahs. More information, ww.sout.org/uploads/files/90_Polar_Plunge_Kit_2014.pdf.

When and where: 9 a.m. Saturday at Pelican Bay Marina, Utah Lake, Saratoga Springs; and 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. George City Pool, St. George

Registration: $10 plus $40 minimum in pledges/donations

Polar Bear Whiteout • It's a party for polar bears at Hogle Zoo. Learn about polar bears while doing crafts and playing games. Wear white to get $1 off admission. More information, http://www.hoglezoo.org/event_registration/?ee=114.

When: 10a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday (See Rizzo the polar bear up close during a special demonstration at 10:45 a.m. and see her enjoy fish at 1:15 p.m.)

Regular admission: Adults $11.95, seniors 65 and older $9.95, children 3-12 $8.95

Sports, Health & Fitness Expo • Exhibits, sports and fitness clinics, a kids zone and bounce house plus entertainment. More information, http://www.utahsportsexpo.com.

When: Noon-9 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdy

Where: South Towne Expo Center, 9575 S. State St., Sandy

Admission: $8 adult, $5 kids, $20 family pass

2014 Day of Remembrance • Each year the remembrance commemorates Feb. 19, 1942, when 110,000 persons of Japanese ancestry were ordered incarcerated by presidential order. This year features "Breaking the Silence," an oral play about internees' experiences.

When: 11:30 a.m. exhibits and lunch ($12, pre-purchase required by going online to jacl-utah.org/saltlake/); 1 p.m. program "Breaking the Silence"

Where: Orson Spencer Hall, University of Utah

Admission: The program is free and open to the public.
