Today is the last day for the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or anyone else, to challenge the state of Texas’ effort to seize the Yearning for Zion Ranch.

As we wait to see if the sect surrenders the multi-million dollar behemoth near Eldorado, Texas Monthly posted an interesting story today on its website. While there’s no indication the FLDS intends to fight the seizure, the group did recently pay about $460,000 in outstanding taxes owed to local governments.

Meanwhile, testimony resumed this week in the federal civil rights lawsuit against Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Ariz.
