As was reported on sltrib.com overnight, the lawyers defending Utah's ban on same-sex marriage — apparently from within the same right-wing echo chamber where everyone was convinced Mitt Romney was going to be elected president — filed their arguments late last night with the 10 Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver.

There is nothing in the 120-page brief that out does this first sentence of the latest Frank Bruni New York Times column, as posted on the Tribune's website today.

Expressions of love that get people killed

"There are few moments sweeter, more humbling or more thrilling than telling someone you love how you feel. ..."

Though the column becomes rather a downer right after that.
