With Monday's loss to the Toronto Raptors, the Jazz caught another glimpse of how valuable their 6-foot-10 anchor just might be.

Derrick Favors was once again sidelined by a hip injury, the fourth time in six games, and the Jazz fell to 0-6 in games without him.

Utah allowed 15 offensive rebounds and 17 second-chance points Monday night.

"Derrick's a big physical guy," said forward Marvin Williams. "He's big and strong and athletic. It's going to take a lot to get a rebound away from him. Enes [Kanter] is a big guy, strong guy, but he's not as athletic as Derrick is and can't jump as high as some guys like Derrick can."

The Jazz missed Favors elsewhere on the court, too.

"He's kind of been our anchor all year defensively," Williams said. "Anytime we've been beat on the perimeter, he's been there to clean up that mess for us."

Said Kanter, who started in place of Favors Monday, "Derrick is a defensive-minded guy and we really needed him tonight. It would have been nice to have him when we needed him."

Sharing the ball

The Jazz recorded a season-low 10 assists Monday, but coach Ty Corbin wasn't worried about his team being selfish.

"It wasn't the ball movement," he said. "We missed shots. I thought we had great shots. We missed some really good looks that we have been making. For the most part, I thought we moved the ball pretty good."

Gobert time

Rookie center Rudy Gobert logged a career-high 31 minutes Monday, grabbing eight rebounds and blocking three shots.

"That's the type of player we're going to need him to be coming off the bench," said fellow rookie Trey Burke. "We need him to give us that spark."
