DVD • Chris Hemsworth swings an awesome hammer in “Thor: The Dark World,” a continuation of the Marvel Comics character’s exploits that works best when things are in motion.

Hemsworth’s Thor brings his human love, Jane (Natalie Portman), to Asgard — and into the middle of an invasion by the dark elf king Malekith (Christopher Eccleston).

After some dull mythmaking exposition, the action picks up when Thor forms an alliance with his traitorous brother, Loki, played by the scene-stealing Tom Hiddleston, whose sarcastic villainy gives something for the studly Hemsworth to play against.
