My two daughters have been involved in Youth City programs for many years as participants and staff persons. They are truly wonderful programs and have a tremendous amount to offer to all concerned, especially youth participants.
I wholeheartedly agree that their expansion to serve larger numbers of students would be a wonderful thing for our youth, anywhere in the community (“Salt Lake’s west side getting short shrift on Youth City programs,” Tribune, Jan. 15). However, all of the high-horse politicians should not just jump on a criticism bandwagon. Instead, they should instead immediately realize that such an expansion must include strategies to identify more funding to support these terrific programs, and they must immediately start working to make this happen.
