You may already know him, not by name or personal contact, but by driving past him, week after week. He places himself across the street and in front of Little Caesars Pizza on Parleys Way and 2300 South in Salt lake City.
No chill in the air, sun on his face, or wind in his hair keeps him from remaining steadfast with the Little Caesars Pizza sign propped against his legs. His name is Marco.
As he smiles and waves at the countless passers-by on any given day, he is earning a living, his living, promoting Little Caesars Pizza. Marco’s life is confined to a wheelchair. As I drive past Marco, I am reminded that he is a symbol of what one individual, one company, can do to change the perception of a disability into an “I can!”
I commend Little Caesars and Marco for showing us all that with enough determination, anyone can prove their self worth in one way or another.
Next time you drive past Marco, honk and wave, and while you’re in the neighborhood, why not stop for a Little Caesars Pizza! Tell them Marco sent you!
