Discover Lake County wines at Martine

Martine Cafe continues its monthly "small plates, big glass" wine series with a visit from Arpad Molnar of Obsidian Ridge Winery in Lake County, Calif. Chef Tom Grant will create three small plates to pair with Obsidian's 2012 Poseidon Vineyard Chardonnay, 2010 Cabernet Sauvigon and 2011 Syrah.

Park City wine course wins video award

A video wine-education course offered by the Culinary Wine Institute in Park City recently received a Gold Award in the educational category at The Aurora Awards, an international competition that recognizes excellence in the film and video industries. The "Foundations in Wine – Level One" video course was produced by Utah-based Market Vision Media and was judged on professional execution, quality, content and creativity. It is taught by Kirsten Fox, founder and CEO of the institute.

Avenues Community Garden open house

Learn more about a community garden being proposed in Popperton Park in the Avenues neighborhood of Salt Lake City. To get under way, 25 gardeners are needed. Plots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested gardeners can sign up during the open house.

Tickets for Park City Food & Wine Classic

Tickets for The Park City Food & Wine Classic are on sale. This annual summer event includes food and wine tastings, seminars and cooking demonstrations. More than 100 wineries, breweries, distilleries and food purveyors participate. A percentage of each ticket price is donated to the Park City People's Health Clinic.

USU winter walk

Strap on snowshoes and take a walk through the Varga Arboretum at Utah State University's Botanical Center in Kaysville. Learn how to identify evergreens, discover where animals go in the snow and enjoy the winter weather. Snowshoes provided.
