After 10 years of dreaming, TV chef and Ogden native Kelsey Nixon has finally made it into The Food Network lineup.
“Kelsey’s Essentials,” which has aired since November 2010 on The Cooking Channel, will soon be seen Monday through Thursday afternoons, Nixon wrote on her blog. Check local listings for exact times.
“To say that I’m ecstatic about this would be an understatement,” she wrote about the move to The Cooking Channel’s sister station. “In fact, I’m still wrapping my head around it all. Nearly 10 years ago, I set a lofty goal to be on the Food Network one day, and it’s actually happened!”
Her show will air between Rachael Ray’s “30 Minute Meals” and Ina Garten’s “Barefoot Contessa.” “Two women who inspired me to venture down this crazy culinary road in the first place,” she wrote. “What an honor.”
A spot on The Food Network is Nixon’s latest accomplishment. In 2013, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Culinary Host category for her work on “Kelsey’s Essentials.”
And on Feb. 11, she will release her first cookbook, “Kitchen Confidence: Essential Recipes and Tips That Will Help You Cook Anything.” Pre-orders for the paperback, which is selling for $15.40 (normally $19.99), are being taken at Amazon.com.
Nixon, a graduate of Brigham Young University and Le Cordon Bleu in Hollywood, jump-started her television career when she was a contestant on Season 4 of “The Next Food Network Star.” She finished fourth and was voted a fan favorite.
