Utah has added another quarterback to its depth chart with Jason Thompson, a 6-foot-2, 206-pound sophomore deciding to follow his former coach Dave Christensen to Utah.
Thompson redshirted the 2013 season but was expected to be Wyoming's starting quarterback in 2014 with junior Brett Smith declaring for the NFL draft.
Thompson played in six games as a freshman, finishing 27-of-52 for 222 yards and rushing for 121 yards.
Thompson must sit out a year due to NCAA transfer rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
With Thompson's transfer, the Utes are loaded at the quarterback spot with Brandon Cox, Conner Manning, Micah Thomas and Adam Schulz expected to compete for the starting role this spring if veteran Travis Wilson can't play.
The Utes also have a commitment from Louisiana quarterback Donovan Isom and Chase Hansen, who signed with the Utes in 2012, is expected to return from a mission for the 2015 season.
