Today’s 2014 Sundance Film Festival trailer is, fittingly for a John Le Carré story, truly international: The movie is an American/German, but the trailer itself arrives via Brazil and has Portuguese subtitles.

“A Most Wanted Man” is based on Le Carré’s best-selling novel, and follows the pursuit of Issa (Grigoriy Dobrygin), a suspicious Russian-Chechen immigrant who lands in Hamburg. A German spymaster, Gunther Bachmann (Philip Seymour Hoffman), is under pressure to nab the guy quickly, but he has another plan — to use Issa and his German immigration lawyer (Rachel McAdams) to expose a plot by a Muslim philanthropist and a terrorist group.

The cast includes Willem Dafoe, Robin Wright an Daniel Brühl. It’s directed by Anton Corbijn, the art photographer turned director whose previous films include the Joy Division biopic “Control” and George Clooney’s assassin thriller “The American.”

“A Most Wanted Man” debuts in the Premieres section of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. It has its first screening Sunday, Jan. 19, at 3:30 p.m. in the Eccles Theatre in Park City.
