Today's 2014 Sundance Film Festival trailer goes back to the mean streets of Jakarta, and back to the source of one of the most exciting action movies in recent memory.

"The Raid 2: Berandal" picks up where "The Raid: Redemption" left off, just after rookie cop Rama (Iko Uwais) survived the police siege of a drug kingpin's high-rise stronghold. Now Rama, told that his family is in danger from the crime bosses he riled up, must go undercover to infiltrate Jakarta's crime syndicate — and root out the corruption within his own police force.

Writer-director Gareth Evans returns for this sequel, which promises enough action to match the original. (The red-band trailer features a lot of that action, and some of it is rather bloody.)

"The Raid 2: Berandal" plays in the Premieres section of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. It debuts Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 9:45 p.m. at the Eccles Theatre in Park City. It opens to wider audiences, in the United States and Indonesia, in late March.
