Hardware Ranch Elk Festival • Family activities include making Christmas ornaments and bird feeders from natural materials. If the weather pushes elk into the Hardware Ranch Wildlife Management Area’s meadow, you can take a sleigh ride through the herd. More information, wildlife.utah.gov/hardwareranch/ or 435-753-6206.

When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday

Where: Hardware Ranch Wildlife Management Area, 18 miles east of Hyrum on state Route 101

Admission: Festival activities are free. Sleigh rides through the elk herds cost $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-8. (cash or check only)

Family Art Saturday • Children and parents will focus on the relationship between imagery and text while producing their own unique set of holiday cards. More information, www.utahmoca.org/art-saturdays/.

4th Annual Monument Valley Balloon Event • Balloon launches each morning from 8-10 a.m. are scheduled. Glows are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Entertainment and activities such as face painting are also scheduled. At 3:30 p.m. Saturday a free showing of “Star Wars” in Navajo is scheduled.
