Utah’s Jewish community marked the sixth night of Hanukkah on Monday by lighting a menorah at the Utah Governor’s Mansion in downtown Salt Lake City.
Rabbi Benny Zippel, leader of Chabad Lubavitch of Utah, joined Gov. Gary Herbert and other dignitaries at the invitation-only event.
Zippel said such ceremonies help lift the Jewish identity of children and families across the state, according to a news release.
“A little bit of light,” he added, “dispels much darkness.”
