For this week's Utah Crowd-Funding project, we venture down south to Provo — and hear the music of singer-songwriter John Allred.

The folk-rock guitarist/singer has been working on his full-length album "Forest Eyes" for nearly a year, collaborating with producer Joshua James. "It was an experiment," Allred writes on his Kickstarter page, "but it completely changed the way I approach recording, and it created a whole new world of possibilities."

Four songs over one weekend, he writes, "transformed into something that is still hard to describe, and for the first time, l am letting the music speak for itself." What was initially meant to be an EP expanded, with more songs developed in the studio to make an album.

To complete the album, Allred is seeking $3,000 in a Kickstarter campaign. So far, with 22 days to go, he has received $1,225 in pledges, or about 40 percent of his goal. The deadline is Dec. 12.

Incentives range from a digital download of the "Forest Eyes" single (for $1) to a private concert by Allred and his band (for $1,000).
