An Eagle Mountain man died in a Wyoming traffic crash near the Utah border.

Jeffery Ryan, 32, was a passenger in a Ford pickup that was traveling west on Interstate 80 about 9:22 a.m. Tuesday about 30 miles east of Evanston, according to Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers. A semitrailer truck ahead of the Ford had pulled to a stop on the highway because of a previous crash, troopers wrote.

The driver of the Ford, a 53-year-old man from Payson, did not see the stopped traffic until the pickup was about to hit the semi, troopers wrote. The driver of the Ford swerved, but the passenger side of the pickup struck the rear of the semitrailer, troopers wrote.

Ryan died at the scene, troopers wrote. He was wearing a safety belt.

The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital for treatment and was later released. The driver of the semi, a Riverton man, was not injured.
