P!nk puts on gravity-defying performance in Utah
Pop diva P!nk rocketed on to the stage at EnergySolutions Arena for her first song Monday night, and she just kept going the whole night long.
Her stage was an incredible spectacle of lights, screens and multilevel stages, and P!nk made use of every inch both on ground levels and soaring through the air, using everything from cages to bungee cords to zip lines.
Her acrobatic prowess demonstrated the fearless approach P!nk has taken in her songs on her The Truth About Love Tour. She brazenly bares her most vulnerable feelings about loving herself, her romantic partners and her now 3-year-old daughter while rocking out to party anthems and looking like she's having the time of her life. Her costumes (which changed seamlessly throughout the night) showed the many sides and rock-hard abs of the singer as she moved the enthused, sold-out audience to dance through the entirety of her 95-minute show.
"Thank you for your patience in getting here," she said of having twice rescheduled the show that was supposed to take place in October but was rescheduled due to vocal issues. "Better late than never."
P!nk flew acrobatically around the stage area and impressively over the entire crowd, reaching even the nose-bleeds eye-to-eye during her single encore number "So What" and was able to belt out the majority of her songs such as opener "Raise Your Glass" and "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)." She let her dynamic vocals take over on ballads such as "Just Give Me a Reason" (with a video performance by duet partner Nate Ruess of fun), "Perfect" and a sensual cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game."
The night was hosted by the irreverent character Rubix von Fuchenhurtz, who would be the main character in a Dr. Seuss poem if Seuss had ever chosen to write dirty limericks. The night had a sensual, sexy and sometimes downright naughty vibe to it. Some of the more burlesque moments likely left some of the parents in the audience regretting bringing along young children and even their tweens. But the entire spectacle felt genuine to P!nk's experience as she has traveled the perilous journey to love.
P!nk put on an eye-popping show that let the audience dance away a broken heart, reflect on their relationships and cherish those they care about the most.
