Halloween activities • It's October. Boo! Do you want to be scared? Haunted? Lost in a corn maze? Go here to check out Halloween events and attractions — both the scary and family-friendly kind.

Snowbird's Oktoberfest • This annual months-long event wraps up on Oct. 13. That leaves you just this weekend and next to get on up there to eat some of the best wurst and do the chicken dance. Noon-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Zooper Hero Day • Hogle Zoo is hosting this event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. It will highlight the super hero-like powers possessed by the zoo's resident animals. Dress up as your favorite superhero and get $1 off a child's admission.

Marvell Smith Fundraiser Ride • This is a memorial and fundraiser motorcycle ride for the family of Marvell Smith, who was killed Sept. 18 in a traffic accident. Riders will gather 11 a.m. at Cycle Gear at 78 E. 11400 South in Draper, ride to Utah Lake by noon, then head back to Cycle Gear for food, a raffle and auction by about 2 p.m. Cars are welcome to accompany the motorcycles. A minimum $20 donation is requested. Donations can also be made at this website.

St. George Marathon • Some 7,500 participants will be running the 37th St. George Marathon on Saturday. It starts at 6:45 a.m. in the Pine Valley Mountains. The finish line is 26 miles 385 yards away at Worthen Park, 200 S. 300 East.

LDS General Conference weekend • Sessions in the conference center are 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 6 p.m. Saturday. You'll need a pre-distributed ticket to attend a session. Depending on your perspective, it'll be a great time to either be in or avoid what will be a pretty crowded and busy downtown Salt Lake City. Conference attracts more than 100,000 people to downtown.

Pole Dance America competition • On Sunday, Pole Dance America is looking for the best pole fitness performers to compete in the Pole Dance America Championship. J&M Expressions, 9854 S. 700 East, in Sandy is hosting what will be one of 15 preliminary competitions being held across the country. The compulsory round begins at 10 a.m. followed by the performance round at 5 p.m. Admission is $20.

Television • This weekend marks the second time KSL has aired the regular Saturday-night episode of Saturday Night Live as scheduled. You'll be able to watch LDS General conference on Channel 5 earlier in the day, and then stay tuned for host/musical guest Miley Cyrus after the late news. Really.
