Women have given birth outside of hospitals for most of human history, but the case of a veteran midwife charged with negligent homicide in the death of a Moab infant is once again raising questions about the practice of natural childbirth. How should parents choose a midwife, what training, if any, should be required to be a midwife, and when is it time for a mother to go to a hospital?

On Wednesday at 12:15 p.m., Trib Talk's Jennifer Napier-Pearce discusses the best practices of midwifery and rules in Utah with midwife Tara Workman Tulley, obstetrician Erin Clark and Tribune reporter Erin Alberty.
