Volleyball: Utah, BYU set to collide at Huntsman Center
Rivalry week between the University of Utah and BYU begins Tuesday night, when the school's volleyball teams collide at the Huntsman Center.
The match starts at 7 p.m. It will be televised on the Pac 12 Networks.
Both teams are rolling.
Utah is 10-0 this season and has gone five sets only once in the opener against Utah State. BYU has won five of its last six matches, including two straight sweeps.
The Cougars defeated the Utes last year in Provo, 3-0, to run their record in the series to 66-29.
Utah is led by middle blocker Erin Redd-Brandon. A senior from Spanish Fork, she continues her climb on the Utes' career statistical lists.
Redd-Brandon needs 20 kills to move past Mikki Kane-Barton for sixth place all-time. She needs 89 kills to become the 15th player in school history to reach 1,000.
After playing BYU, Utah concludes the nonconference portion of its schedule at New Mexico State on Thursday night.
The Utes open play in the rugged Pac 12 on Sept. 24 at home against Colorado. Six conference teams are ranked in the top 25, including No. 1 USC, No. 6 Washington, No. 8 Stanford, No. 11 UCLA, No. 20 Oregon and No. 23 California.
For BYU, the Utah match is its final tuneup before the West Coast Conference opener on Friday at Smith Fieldhouse against San Diego.
