A Utah law firm recently received a national award for its pro bono work.
Salt Lake City-based firm Zimmerman Jones Booher LLC is one of 17 law firms nationwide to be chosen by the National Legal Aid and Defender Association for the 2013 Beacon of Justice Award.
Attorney Troy Booher said the Pro Bono Commission of the Utah State Bar nominated the firm for the award.
“Our firm has a deep commitment to providing pro bono representation in individual cases and to work for legal reform that will ensure competent representation for all who cannot afford it,” Booher said Friday in an email.
According to the national association, the law firms were awarded based on the time and resources they dedicated to help those who could not afford legal representation.
“These firms truly serve as beacons of justice,” Jo-Ann Wallace, NLADA President and CEO said in a news release. “Their achievements in advancing the cause of equal justice through pro bono generosity provide the entire legal community with a powerful example.”
