• Justin Timberlake won big at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night — but the awards are meaningless compared to the performances: *NSYNC reuniting! Lady Gaga doing four costume changes in one number! Miley Cyrus shaking her butt in Robin Thicke’s junk! [AP, via The Salt Lake Tribune]

• The great Broadway star Julie Harris died Saturday, at the age of 87. She won five Tony awards in her career, including for roles in “I Am a Camera” and “The Belle of Amherst.” Her film resumé included “East of Eden,” “The Haunting,’ and seven seasons of “Knots Landing.” [Los Angeles Times]
