Here's what's happening over the weekend in pop culture:

• “Lee Daniels' The Butler” won the weekend at the box office, taking in $25 million. The weekend's other new titles, “Kick-Ass 2” and “Paranoia,” had more disappointing returns. [Box Office Mojo]

• Comedian Patton Oswalt won Twitter this weekend, with a series of funny and provocative two-part tweets that sounded really offensive if you only read the second part. [OC Weekly]

• Actress Shailene Woodley (“The Descendants,” “The Spectacular Now”) had her beautiful long hair chopped off for her next movie – “The Fault in Our Stars,” in which she plays a teen cancer patient – and donated her hair to a nonprofit group that makes wigs for children with hair loss.
