St. George • A 48-year-old Washington, Utah, woman could spend the rest of her life in prison after being sentenced for commandeering a police car at gunpoint in November.

The Spectrum reports Jo Ann Boone was sentenced to a maximum of life in prison Thursday, two days after she was ordered to a 15-year term in federal prison on charges stemming from the same incident.

Boone's hands were cuffed behind her back when she was taken to the Washington County Jail on Nov. 19. Police say she pulled a handgun from her pants as the officer was letting her out of the back seat.

Authorities say she was able to get her cuffed hands in front of her and take the police car on a high-speed chase before her tires were deflated.
