Tribune reporter honored with D.C. award
Washington • For the third time in four years, The Salt Lake Tribune's Thomas Burr on Tuesday evening received the National Press Club's Washington Regional Reporting Award.
A native of Salina, Utah, Burr has worked the The Tribune's two-person D.C. bureau since 2005. He currently is chairman of the National Press Club's board of directors.
First given in 1979, the Washington Regional Reporting Award honors the D.C.-based journalist who best provides a clear understanding of the issues and events relevant to people back home.
Burr previously won the award in 2010 and 2011. His Tribune colleague, Matt Canham, won the 2009 prize.
The Tribune is the only Utah news organization with a full-time bureau in Washington, D.C.
