The big question mark for Utah's defense is corner, where senior Keith McGill and freshman Justin Thomas are penciled in to start. Whittingham was unhappy with the efforts in the spring so look for this position to get more scrutiny than any other during camp.
The backups are freshman Reginald Porter and junior Davion Orphey but freshman Hipolito Corporan will get plenty of chances to step in and earn playing time too.
Whoever the starters are, Whittingham acknowledges their learning curve must be quick because the pass happy Pac-12 will test Utah's corners from the get-go.

The safeties have two solid returners in Eric Rowe and Tyron Morris-Edwards, but the Utes were hoping junior college transfer Tevin Carter would come in and compete for a starting role. However he hasn't met his academic requirements to enroll at Utah so the Utes have to get some depth elsewhere. Charles Henderson, a converted receiver, will be under pressure to step up his play and returner Quade Chappuis will also get more looks in camp.
