Utah trailer park riot ends with 8 arrests; 1 suspect at large
Eight people were arrested and booked into the Weber County jail following a trailer park free-for-all that purportedly began with an argument at a booze-fueled party over an overdue debt.
In all, Riverdale police detained 20 people early Monday morning following a series of fights involving two groups of people at and near the Riverdale Mobile Estates near 1100 West and 5100 South.
Jail records on Tuesday showed that seven men and one woman were behind bars on misdemeanor charges ranging from rioting, assault and public intoxication to possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and interfering with arrests.
A Riverdale police dispatcher said one male suspect remained at large Tuesday.
Riverdale police Lt. Scott Brenkman said officers were called to a report of a large fight in progress about 3 a.m. Monday at the trailer park. He said an argument over a small amount of money owed by one party-goer to another escalated when the alleged debtor call his friends because he felt threatened.
When police arrived, the crowds broke up, but about 20 people were detained. Questioning of those people took detectives most of Monday to complete.
Brenkman said officers confiscated a knife, baseball bat, crutch, cane, a hammer and other items believed used in the fracas. One person suffered a minor stab wound, while three others sustained non-life threatening head and other "blunt force" injuries.
No officers were injured.
