Figure-skating champion Evan Lysacek is expected to compete for the first time since winning gold at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics at the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic in Salt Lake City this fall, U.S. Figure Skating has announced.
Lysacek will join more than 70 athletes from nearly 20 nations competing at the second annual competition at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex, Sept. 12-14.
Defending national men's champion Max Aaron is among the other Americans scheduled to compete, along with reigning national pairs champions Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir and world ice dance champions Maryl Davis and Charlie White.
National ladies silver medalist Gracie Gold also is expected to compete, among others, though international competitors won't be known until later.
Hosted by the Salt Lake Figure Skating club, the competition will begin with the pairs and men's short programs on Sept. 12, followed by the short dance, ladies short program and men's and pairs free skate on Sept. 13 and the free dance and ladies free skate on Sept. 14.
Ticket and broadcast information will be available in late August, U.S. Figure Skating said.
