One down, one to go for Utah wildfire crews
Firefighters subdued a large wildfire in Box Elder County and are almost done reining in a much smaller fire in Sanpete County.
The lightning-sparked Rocky Fire, about 22 miles southeast of Grouse Creek, burned some 445 acres before firefighters fully contained it Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, the 37-acre Aspen Springs Fire continued to burn about 2 miles east of Spring City, though crews achieved 95 percent containment on the blaze by Wednesday morning. Crews were working to cut fire lines around the blaze and expected to fully contain it by the end of Wednesday.
The cause of the Aspen Springs Fire is still under investigation.
The Sanpete County sheriff's office had issued a voluntary evacuation advisory for residents of the Pine Mountain subdivision when the fire started on Sunday night, but have since rescinded it.
There are no other large-scale wildfires burning in Utah, officials said.
