Aaron Lewis is most famous for being the frontman of metal band Staind, which has sold more than 15 million records in nearly 20 years of its existence. B
ut if you show up in Wendover to see a version of Staind, prepare to be shocked.
Lewis is touring in support of his passionate love affair with traditional country, illustrated on his first full-length solo record, “The Road.” He said he inherited a love for the country of George Jones from his grandfather, and is finally able to show how much he appreciates the blood lines of his heroes. “There’s not much country left in the country world,” Lewis said.
Lewis said there is likely a future left for Staind, but for the time being, he is pleased by the response he has received for his labor of love — his first country EP “Town Line” debuted at No. 1 on the country album chart when it was released in 2011. “I would have to say it went down pretty well,” he said.
One regret is that Jones died earlier this year. “Unfortunately, I never got to pick the brain of the wise old man,” Lewis said.
