A man died and his son was hospitalized after a rollover crash Thursday in Juab County.

The 16-year-old boy was driving on Nebo Loop Road when their small SUV went off the road and rolled down an embankment near Red Creek Flats area, said Juab County sheriff's Lt. Brent Pulver. The location is about 6 miles north of the State Road 132 and Salt Creek Canyon junction.

The boy's 59-year-old father was pronounced dead at the scene and the boy was taken to the hospital in serious to critical condition, Pulver said, adding that he was conscious when the ambulance took him away.

The reason the SUV went off the road is still under investigation, Pulver said.

Investigators are withholding the names of the father and son, who are from Utah County, pending notification of their family.
