Sandy police have arrested a man who they say injected an adolescent girl with heroin, had sex with her and eventually left her pregnant.

Victor Steven Robinson, 24, is facing three first-degree felonies for rape of a child after he reportedly carried on a relationship with a 13-year-old girl. Sandy Capt. John Eining said the relationship began on Facebook. Eventually, they met in person and began having sex.

Prosecutors also have charged Robinson with three third-degree felonies for endangerment of a child for giving the girl drugs.

Court documents state that between May and July, the pair met three times in Salt Lake City. Heroin and sex were involved on multiple occasions, Eining said. The documents also add that the girl had never used the drug until Robinson injected her.

Eining confirmed that at some point the girl became pregnant. He added that the girl's age means she cannot legally consent to sex.

"Anyone under the age of 14 is going to be considered a child under Utah state code," he said.

Robinson's charges were filed Friday, the same day a judge set his bail at $100,000. He remains in the Salt Lake County Jail.
