Former Ute donates to football program
Former Ute Paul Soliai, now with the Miami Dolphins, has become the latest former player to donate to Utah as it was announced Tuesday he was donating $250,000 for the new football center.
His contribution will fund the Paul and LeTasha Soliai Player Lounge.
"They gave me the opportunity to play and as a kid from Samoa, it's something I'm thankful for every day," he said in a release. "Without the university giving me a scholarship to play the sport I love, I wouldn't be where I am today."
Soliai played in 24 games from 2005-06 for the Utes and was selected in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by Miami.
Alex Smith ($500,000), Jordan Gross ($500,000), Steve Smith ($250,000), Eric Weddle ($250,000) Brian Johnson ($50,000) and Sione Pouha ($50,000) are among the other former players who have donated to the program recently.
